NASHVILLE GUITARISTS ATTEMPT BREAKING WORLD’S LARGEST PEDALBOARD RECORD AGAIN

Nashville, Tennessee - 6/29/09 Radio personality Aljon Go and musician Jaux King are throwing a party to break last year’s record of the world’s largest pedal board while raising money and awareness for the National Kidney Foundation of Middle Tennessee.

Gopher Entertainment Group, ToneFreq.info and GearTrap.com present The World’s Largest Pedalboard Party 2.0. The event will be held Thursday July 16, 2009 at The Rutledge. Party will feature performances from bands: Flight Case for Sushi, Philos and JonesWorld, Holy Crap and The Rust as well as guitar clinics from: Bart Walsh, Tony Pasko, Bryan Lionman, Stanton Adcock and more. Attendees will have a chance to meet the manufactures and partners. There will also be a silent auction of various guitar accessories donated by event partners benefiting the National Kidney Foundation of Middle Tennessee.

Nashville guitarists/bloggers Aljon Go and Jaux King recently made plans to build, operate and claim the record for the world’s largest pedalboard. On June 18, 2008 they both, set the world’s record. Guitarists from novice to professional generally use several guitar pedals (electronic devices giving them different sounds like Hendrix’s fuzz or U2’s Edge echo) to craft their own signature tones. Having generated a buzz through viral marketing, comments are flooding in from guitarists all over the world. Event organizer, Aljon Go mentions, “It started out as a laugh. Now it’s become a reality. I just wanted to push the technology as far as it could go and see how insane it can get. This extraordinary pedalboard is far from practical, but every pedal is operational. This has become a celebration of the advancements in guitar technology and innovation. It will be a great party. What a great time to be a guitarist!”

The World’s Largest Pedalboard Party will be held at The Rutledge, 410 4th Ave. South, Nashville Thursday July 16th. Doors will open at 6 p.m., is “smoke-free” and an 18 and up event. The silent auction and music starts at 7 p.m. Admission is $7/ $5 with NAMM badge. The event is presented by Gopher Entertainment Group. Companies interested in donating products for the charity event and silent auction should contact Kristen Hoetzel. Deadline for inclusion is July 10. For more information please contact Kristen Hoetzel, Gopher Entertainment Group - (615) 513-2856.

Van Halen Heartbroken Over Jackson

Posted Jun 25th 2009 9:30PM by TMZ Staff

He provided the rock guitar solo in Jackson’s hit song “Beat It.” TMZ has just heard from Eddie Van Halen on Michael Jackson’s death:
“I am really shocked; as I’m sure the world is, to hear the news. I had the pleasure of working with Michael on ‘Beat It’ back in ‘83 — one of my fondest memories in my career. Michael will be missed and may he rest in peace.” - Eddie Van Halen

Michael Jackson's collaborations with Guitar Heroes

Michael Joseph Jackson (August 29, 1958 – June 25, 2009) collaborated with many great musicians during his reign as the "King of Pop." He began in 1979 working with Larry Carlton and Phil Upchurch on his solo album "Off the Wall" and afterwards made music history with "Thriller." Here are some of his more famous colaborations and choice video clips, enjoy!

Twitter @aljonrocks
www.ToneFreq.info

In my opinion the best rock/pop crossover track ever is "Beat It." It was written by Jackson and co-produced by Quincy Jones for the singer's 1982 solo album, "Thriller." Jones had wanted an ambitious black rock 'n' roll song, however, Jackson had never previously shown an interest in the genre. Eddie Van Halen was drafted in to add a rock guitar solo, but initially thought the phone calls from Jones requesting that he participate were fake. Jacko and EVH LIVE playing "Beat It" on 1984's Victory Tour, Dallas TX.

Slash performed with MJ on 1992's "Dangerous" album on two tracks "Black or White" and "Give it to Me."

In 1987 Michael Jackson hired Steve Stevens (Billy Idol) to back him on the Dirty Diana track for the "Bad" album.

Jackson worked with legendary Carlos Santana on the track "Whatever Happens" on the 2001 record "Invincible." Listen for Carlos' whistle solos as well as his signature guitar tone!

Eddie Van Halen accepts “Guitar God” award and my thoughts

I, like many of you reading this guitar blog, grew up watching and being inspired by Edward Van Halen. He had the coolest guitar tone - the "brown sound" not to mention a wicked looking guitar and a hot wife to boot! Growing up I often played along with my VH record collection emulating my guitar hero wishing there was some magic "guitar pill" I could take to be just as good as him! Now, many years later I still get goose bumps hearing him play. It's a religions experience watching him dazzle audiences with his technique and showmanship - a lesson most guitar players of today lack. Do yourself a favor and listen to "Van Halen 1" and hear the passion in every note. I have often wished what it would be like to meet my guitar hero. Now that he is sober I hope to one day get him to sign my Kramer and Wolfgang. Cheers and congratulations to EVH - my guitar hero.

Joe Satriani joins the Marshall family!

Marshall Amplification plc is pleased to announce that Joe Satriani will be using a Marshall backline for new group Chickenfoot. The super group, made up of four rock legends, started the European leg of their world tour on June 20th and will be heading back over to the States in August to continue .

Joe used the JVM410H for the show at the Nova Rock Festival and will be visiting the Marshall factory this week to have a look around and try out different speaker cabinets.

New Ace Frehley's New Signature Guitar On the Horizon?

According to post on www.mylespaul.com Ace Frehley is working with Gibson to design two new signature guitars due out later this year or next year. One may possibly be the silver sparkle blue burst that he played at the VH1 rock honors the other one could be a tri-burst.

Of course it is all Internet speculation, however Ace is working on a solo CD that should be out later this Summer. Timing is everything and should all the stars align we could be looking at another killer collectible!

Sonic Youth Signature Jazzmaster Guitars

Hot on the heels of their latest critically acclaimed album, The Eternal, Sonic Youth has teamed up with Fender to create two of the most highly anticipated guitars in recent memory—the Thurston Moore and Lee Ranaldo signature Jazzmaster guitars, which will be available beginning July 1.

Moore and Ranaldo, canonized as two of “The 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time” by Rolling Stone magazine in 2003, make up two-fifths of one of the most respected and influential bands in recent memory. Moore and Ranaldo have been playing Fender instruments for the lion’s share of their careers, to the point where the simple image of a Jazzmaster guitar creates an instant free-associative connection with the band. In celebration of 2008’s 50th Anniversary of the Jazzmaster, Fender had been connecting and talking to all of the icons of the instrument, and a dialogue struck up with Lee and Thurston that led to the design and creation of Fender’s latest signature model additions.

Each Sonic Youth Jazzmaster guitar comes with a custom sticker sheet and a full-color 24-page indie rock ’zine containing photos, set lists, tuning charts, illustrations, tech info and extensive interviews. Designed and laid out largely by Ranaldo himself, this is the definitive insider’s guide to all things Jazzmaster in the world of Sonic Youth.

World's Largest Pedalboard welcomes new partner Mad Professor Amps and Effects!

Much attention has been paid to reduce the compression normally found in tube amplifiers as while compression is often very nice it is hard to remove once in the circuit. The Mad Professor amp was designed to be extremely dynamic as that is a very important feature in a tube amplifier. The MP therefore has a very big power supply for an amp in this power range and the reserve power allows 40 W defined as clean output, while producing 75 W full power distorted output, square wave at high slew rate.

NASHVILLE GUITARIST ATTEMPTS BREAKING WORLD’S LARGEST PEDALBOARD AGAIN JULY 16th

Nashville, Tennessee - 6/10/09 Nashville radio personality Aljon Go throws a party to break last year’s record of the world’s largest pedal board and raise money for the National Kidney Foundation of Middle Tennessee.

Gopher Entertainment Group presents The Second Annual World’s Largest Pedalboard Party. The event will be held Thursday July 16, 2009 at The Rutledge. Party will feature performances from: Flight Case For Sushi, Philos and more to be announced as well as guitar clinics from: Bart Walsh, Tony Pasko, Aljon Go and more. Attendees will have a chance to meet the manufactures and partners. There will also be a silent auction of various guitar accessories donated by event partners benefiting the National Kidney Foundation of Middle Tennessee.

Nashville guitarist/blogger Aljon Go recently made plans to build, operate and claim the record for the world’s largest pedalboard. On June 18, 2008 he and fellow guitarist Jaux King, set the world’s record at 12th and Porter. What a great time to be a guitarist!” .
